I've had a few people tell me that they find it very distracting to meditate using their phone. I can totally understand this. Studies have shows that you are more likely to feel distracted, just by having your phone near you. So here are my tips!

- Put on some meditation music (on a device far from you or playing through a speaker

- Think of one of the following prompts:

  • Sit with the sensations in your body - Scan down through your body, notice the tension you feel, notice any emotion that you feel obligated to attach to it.

  • Feel the breath - Notice how it feels to breath in and breathe out. How deep are you breathing, is there any tension or shortness of breath?

  • Fill your body with awareness - Try to fill the body with awareness; it may be helpful to visualize a flow of energy going through your torso, arms and legs, coming from your head and shoulders. What does that feel like?

Visualization, like in the last prompt, may be really helpful to keep your mind busy enough that it won't get distracted, but not too busy that we're pulled away from the present moment altogether.

Let me know if you try any of these tips!
